Mixed–mode, analogue–digital simulation using SPICE–like circuit analysis programs

چکیده

An approach to integrated mixed-mode simulation is described in which the popular SPICE circuit simulator is extended to analyze digital circuits at the gate, functional or behavioral levels. The analogue-to-digital conversion is provided by (multilevel) parameterized “thresholders” which assign digital signals to subranges of voltages determined by a set of voltage thresholds. The digitalto-analogue conversion is implemented by voltage sources with “controlled” characteristics that convert discrete digital signals into continuous piecewise linear functions. The paper outlines internal organization of mixed, analogue– digital simulation, discusses modification of analyses and extensions to the input language needed for analogue–digital interactions, and highlights the specification of digital circuits. Simple examples of mixed, analogue–digital circuits and mixed–mode simulation illustrate this approach.

Estimating Key Parameters in the EKV MOST Model for Analogue Desgin and Simulation

Recent availability of the EKV (Enz-Krummenacher-Vittoz) MOST model [1] from EPFL in a number of circuit simulators facilitates the intuitive design, analysis and simulation of analogue and mixed-mode circuits and systems exploring the numerous modes of operation of the MOST [2], particularly at low-voltage (LV) and low-current (LC). A practical approach for either extracting the most critical ...

Macromodelling of differential drivers

The development of macromodels of differential drivers for the prediction of the analogue operation of very high-speed digital communication links is explored. The macromodels are mathematical relations hiding the information on the internal structure of devices; they are estimated from port device responses and can be easily implemented in any circuit or analogue mixed-signal simulator as SPIC...
